Holiday Park Changeover Cleaning: Equipment That Speeds Up Turnarounds

How to clean a warehouse A clean warehouse is safer, more efficien t and better for stock , equipment and staff. But with large floors, high racking, constant vehicle movement and tight shift patterns, it is easy for cleaning to become reactive, done only when something looks bad or after a spill. A simple cleaning schedule solves that. By breaking jobs into daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly tasks, you can keep the whole building under control without disrupting operations. Here is a practical schedule you can adapt for your site, along with the equipment that makes each job easier. Daily tasks Daily cleaning focuses on safety and the areas that get dirty fastest. • Sweep traffic lanes and loading areas to remove dust, grit and packaging debris. A ride-on sweeper such as the Tennant S20 covers large areas quickly. • Deal with spills straight away . A wet and dry vacuum such as the Numatic WV1800DH lifts liquids fast, reducing slip risk. • Empty bins and clear packaging waste before it spreads across the floor. • Check walkways and fire exits are clear of debris and obstructions. Weekly tasks Weekly cleaning tackles the dirt that sweeping leaves behind. • Scrub busy traffic lanes and turning areas to remove tyre marks and ingrained dirt. A ride-on scrubber dryer such as the Tennant T20 washes and dries large floors in a single pass. • Clean loading bays and dock areas, where dirt from outside is tracked in. • Clean welfare areas, canteens and toilets thoroughly. • Check cleaning machines, including brushes, squeegees and filters, so they are ready for the week ahead. Monthly tasks Monthly cleaning reaches the areas that are easy to forget. • Scrub the full warehouse floor , including quieter aisles and storage areas. • Clean beneath and around racking where dust and debris collect. • Remove dust from high-level areas , such as racking tops, beams and ledges. Dust that builds up overhead can fall onto stock and staff. • Clean doors, frames and dock levellers. Quarterly tasks Every few months, plan a deeper clean. • Deep clean the whole floor, using a more aggressive brush or pad on heavily marked areas. • Clear gutters and high-level drainage. A high-level vacuum such as the skyVac Industrial 85 clears gutters from the ground, without the cost of scaffolding. • Pressure wash yards, external walkways and bin areas. • Book planned servicing for your cleaning machines so they stay reliable. Making the schedule work A schedule only works if it fits around your operation. A few tips: • Clean in quieter periods, such as between shifts or at the start of the day. • Assign clear responsibilities so each task has an owner. • Use the right machine for each job. Sweepers for loose debris, scrubber dryers for ingrained dirt and wet and dry vacuums for spills. • Keep a simple checklist so tasks are ticked off and nothing is missed. • Review it regularly. Busy periods, new layouts or more vehicle traffic may mean some tasks need doing more often. Equipment to support your schedule The right equipment makes a warehouse cleaning schedule far easier to stick to. Cornwall Vacuum Services supplies, leases, services and repairs industrial sweepers, scrubber dryers, wet and dry vacuums and high-level cleaning equipment for warehouses across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset. We can look at your site and recommend the machines that will make the biggest difference . Contact our team to arrange a site visit. FAQs How often should a warehouse be cleaned? Busy areas need daily attention, especially traffic lanes, loading bays and spills. A full floor scrub is usually done weekly or monthly, with a deeper clean every few months. What equipment do I need to clean a warehouse? Most warehouses benefit from a sweeper for loose debris, a scrubber dryer for ingrained dirt and marks, and a wet and dry vacuum for spills. High-level cleaning equipment helps with racking and gutters. How do I clean high-level areas in a warehouse? High-level vacuum systems with extendable poles can reach racking tops, beams and gutters from the ground, reducing the need for access equipment. How can I clean the warehouse without disrupting operations? Schedule larger cleaning jobs for quieter periods, use ride-on machines to cover large areas quickly, and deal with spills as they happen. Can you help us choose the right machines? Yes. Our team can visit your warehouse and recommend equipment to suit your floor area, layout and cleaning routine.

How to Clean a Warehouse: A Daily, Weekly and Monthly Schedule

Introduction A scrubber dryer is a significant investment, and for many businesses it is the machine that keeps floors safe and clean every day. When it breaks down, cleaning slows to a crawl, mops come back out and floors are left wetter and dirtier than they should be. Yet many machines are only looked at when something goes wrong. A service contract changes that. Regular, planned servicing keeps your scrubber dryer working properly , helps it last longer and reduces the risk of a breakdown at the worst possible moment. Here is why it is worth considering. What wears out on a scrubber dryer Scrubber dryers work hard, and several parts wear with everyday use: • Brushes and pads lose their effectiveness as they wear down, so the machine cleans less well. • Squeegee blades wear and split, leaving streaks and water behind instead of a dry floor. • Batteries lose capacity over time, especially if they are not charged and maintained correctly. • Hoses, filters and seals can block, crack or leak, reducing suction and water flow. • Vacuum motors and drive systems can suffer if debris gets into the wrong places. Most of these issues develop gradually. Operators often get used to a machine that is slowly performing worse, until it stops altogether. What a planned service checks A planned service is a thorough inspection by a trained engineer. It typically includes checking and adjusting brushes, pads and squeegees, testing batteries and charging, inspecting hoses, filters and seals, checking motors, drives and electrical systems, and replacing worn parts before they fail. The engineer can also spot problems caused by how the machine is being used and give your team practical advice. The real cost of downtime When a scrubber dryer breaks down unexpectedly , the cost is not just the repair. Cleaning takes longer, staff time goes up, standards slip and, in busy environments, floors may be less safe. If you need a machine urgently, you may also face rushed decisions about repairs or replacement. A service contract turns unpredictable repair bills into a planned, budgeted cost. It also helps the machine reach its full working life, which protects your original investment. Better results from the same machine A well-maintained scrubber dryer simply cleans better. Fresh brushes, a sharp squeegee and healthy batteries mean cleaner floors, faster drying and more consistent results across every shift. For sites with standards to meet, such as food production, healthcare or retail, that consistency matters. Looking after a mixed fleet Many sites run several machines, often from different brands, such as Tennant, Viper, Numatic and i-mop . Bringing them all under one service plan makes life simpler: one point of contact, planned visits and a clear picture of the condition of every machine. Servicing from a local team Cornwall Vacuum Services has been supplying, servicing and repairing commercial cleaning equipment across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset since 1991. Our engineers can carry out planned servicing on your scrubber dryers and other cleaning machines, and our repair centre handles faults when they happen. We can also build servicing into the purchase or lease of a new machine. Contact our team to discuss a service agreement for your equipment. FAQs How often should a scrubber dryer be serviced? It depends on how often the machine is used. Machines used daily on large sites benefit from more frequent servicing than those used occasionally. Our team can recommend a schedule. What is included in a scrubber dryer service? A service usually covers brushes, pads and squeegees, batteries and charging, hoses, filters and seals, and motors and electrical systems, with worn parts replaced as needed. Is a service contract worth it? For most businesses, yes. Planned servicing reduces the risk of breakdowns, keeps cleaning results consistent and helps the machine last longer. Can you service machines from different brands? We work with a wide range of commercial cleaning machines. Tell us the makes and models you have and we will confirm how we can help. Can servicing be included when we buy or lease a new machine? Yes. Servicing can be built into the purchase or lease of a new machine.

Why Your Scrubber Dryer Needs a Service Contract

Supermarket floors never get a break. Customers, trolleys, staff and deliveries cross them from opening to closing, and spills happen at any time. Yet many stores still rely on mops and buckets during the day, leaving wet floors, warning signs and a slip risk in busy aisles. Slips and trips are the most common cause of major injury in UK workplaces, according to the Health and Safety Executive , and a wet floor in a busy shop is a risk for customers and staff alike. So how can supermarkets keep floors clean during trading hours without creating a hazard? Why mops are a problem in busy stores A mop spreads water across the floor and leaves it to dry on its own. In a busy store, that means areas that stay wet while customers walk through them. Mops also tend to move dirt around rather than remove it, and the water in the bucket quickly becomes dirty. The result is a floor that looks streaky and takes longer to dry. How scrubber dryers help A scrubber dryer washes the floor and removes the dirty water in a single pass. The squeegee and vacuum lift the water straight away, so the floor is left clean and dry rather than wet. That means: • less time with wet floors in customer areas • a lower slip risk than mopping • a more consistent clean across the whole store • less physical effort for cleaning staff Because modern battery-powered scrubber dryers are quiet and compact, many can be used while the store is open. Choosing the right size of machine The right machine depends on the size and layout of your store: • Convenience stores and small supermarkets: compact machines such as the i-mop XXL Pro or the Tennant T260 work well in narrow aisles and around displays. • Mid-sized supermarkets : walk-behind machines such as the Tennant T360 or Viper AS5160T cover more ground while staying manoeuvrable. • Large superstores: ride-on machines such as the Tennant T7, or a compact ride-on such as the Viper AS530R, clean wide aisles and large open areas quickly. Many larger stores use a ride-on machine overnight and a compact machine during the day for spills and touch-ups. Daytime and overnight cleaning For most stores, the main floor clean happens before opening or after closing, when aisles are clear. During the day, the focus moves to spills, entrances and high-traffic areas. A compact, quiet scrubber dryer is ideal for this, as staff can deal with a spill quickly and leave the area dry rather than coning it off. Clear signage is still important whenever cleaning takes place, but a dry floor in one pass reduces the time any area is out of action. Back of house, entrances and outside The shop floor is only part of the picture. Warehouses, loading bays and stock rooms collect dust, packaging debris and tyre marks from pallet trucks, so a sweeper or scrubber dryer helps keep these areas safe too. Entrances, trolley bays and forecourts can be cleaned with a pressure washer and a flat surface cleaner such as the Turbo Devil TD520 , which cleans large paved areas evenly and quickly. Support across multiple stores If you manage several stores, planned servicing across all your machines helps keep them reliable and avoids breakdowns at busy times. Leasing can also make it easier to equip several sites at once. Cornwall Vacuum Services supplies, leases, services and repairs scrubber dryers for retailers across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset. We can visit your store, look at your floors and cleaning routine, and recommend the right machine. Contact our team to arrange a consultation. FAQs Can a scrubber dryer be used while customers are in the store? Many compact, battery-powered scrubber dryers are quiet enough for daytime use. Because they leave the floor dry, they reduce the slip risk compared with mopping. What size scrubber dryer does a supermarket need? It depends on the store size and aisle widths. Small stores suit compact machines, while large superstores benefit from ride-on models. Are scrubber dryers better than mops? For most supermarket floors, yes. They clean more consistently and leave the floor dry, which is safer for customers and staff. What is the best way to clean store entrances and trolley bays? We supply pressure washers and flat surface cleaners that make cleaning entrances, trolley bays and forecourts much quicker. Do you offer servicing for multiple stores? Yes. We can arrange planned servicing for machines across several sites.
